Hello,
I know that this is an old thread but I have the same request as Andreas.
The PDF file " lycos_competition_a4.pdf" has not been archived by web archive.
Does anyone here still have this file?
Thank you.

Hello,
I am interested in the HQ Symphony Pro 2.2, but I am concerned about its flight capability with low wind speed (<15km/h).
The Beach version has a wide wind range, but as pointed out by Dirk (sugarrunner) the Pro is noticeably slower and with less pull.
On YT, there are few videos where the kite (Pro) seems very sluggish.
So, the Pro 2.2 owners, could you tell me what is the minimum wind force to fly?
To be noted that I have a set of 75kg lines that I can use.
Thank you.
In those conditions pretty much everything will fly well.
If you make a video, mentioning the wind force, with the pilot on the screen, you can see how the kite performs. Is it a speed foil? a traction foil? suitable for kids?
In these videos (the flights, not the speech), made by sugarrunner, you can clearly evaluate the performance of each kite (unfortunately, there was a lack of wind for the Pro 1.8):
Just around ten seconds with low and moderate wind would be sufficient.
In the case of spider kites, there is not even a single video on the website. How to make a choice?
That's why I made the suggestion (to which you didn't respond) in the other thread that it's best to testfly a kite. This way you get a good first impression of a kite which is worth more than a 100 videos on YT .
testing? How?
Maybe in Germany there are tons of kiters on the beach, but it is not the case in France. I am always the only guy, with my son, playing with a foil (except the kite surfers, of course).
And what about the new Wasabi 2.0?
How does it fly compared to the Symphony Pro 2.2 (at the same price)?
Note for spiderkites: make videos of your products!
It is like the kites manufacturers do not want to sell. None of them have decent online videos.
There are not that much videos about small 4 lines foils (Cooper One 150, Rage 1.8, Alpha 1.5, HQ 2.2.4, ...). I think that I watched all of them on YT.
And I though that I already gave the necessary infos (Ok, some on my first post), I weigh about 75kg, fly mostly with a moderate force wind (15-25km/h), and don't want to be dragged on the beach (I already have my Lycos 3.0 for that!).
For now, my choice would be the Symphony Pro 2.2, because the 1.8 variant seems too nervous, and that it can be converted to 4 lines.
Or a Lycos 2.0 PS, but the reviews are not all good.
These are "power kites", with too much pull and too slow for my liking.
I watched several "4-lines" kites videos, again, and I still don't get it, it is like playing "Temple Run" with PAUSE, SLOW-DOWN and REWIND buttons It makes no sense, for me.
I talked about the Symphony Pro 2.2 because it has the attachments to convert it to "4-lines", out of the box.
Hello holder,
for me, flying a kite/foil must be sort of a challenge. I need to stay focused, that's why I said that brake lines kill the game.
For almost the same reason, I do prefer my rc planes as my rc helicopters (well, actually it is more challenging to fly a heli than a plane, but you get the point ) .
And, for now, I never needed a second person to land my kite or foils, if I have a doubt I use a ground anchor. But I have never flown with strong wind (>30km/h).
I already watched every videos of Dirk, and translated the pages of his blog
I read that he (really) dislikes the Beach 1.8, while I do like the way it flies on his youtube review.
On the other hand, he likes the Pro variant but also says that it can be very nervous and difficult to do "ground pass" (that I like to do!).
Unfortunately, he did not review the Synapse 170, only the 140 variant (that seems to be good).
Hello,
as I said in my first post, I am looking for a new foil, to use it in moderate wind (15-25 km/h).
I don't want a kite too fast, but I like to have decent pull.
What do you think about the Synapse 170? Especially compared to the Symphony Beach 1.8.
On these videos, it does not seem too bad:
Note that I don't care about the RTF lines, I already have my own sets.
Thank you!
Hello,
I am sorry, I don't speak German, but I come to this forum because I think that it is the best one about kites and (para)foils.
I currently own a Lycos 3.0 PS and a TomBoy, plus a Symphony Beach 1.3 for my kid, and I would like to buy a new foil.
I made a mistake buying the big Lycos, it is way too powerful for me (<75kg), I can fly it only in low wind (and thus low speed).
So, I am looking for a less powerful kite to fly in middle wind force (15-25 km/h).
The Lycos 2.0 seems perfect for me, but too expensive (plus some manufacturing issues?), the Symphony Pro 1.8 is too fast, and the Beach 1.8 doesn't seem that good (according to this review ).
And that brings me to the Wasabi 1.5. Does any of you had the chance to compare it to the other kites I mentioned?
Does it have at least a decent pull using it in the middle wind range?
Thank you
